Nose: Opens on sweet juniper and spices, with citrus freshness. The signature herbal influence of the 22 rises to the fore with delicate mints, sweet gale and wild thyme. Cinnamon, coriander and juniper provide a platform for the delicate, aromatic Islay botanicals to reveal their astonishing depth and clarity.

Taste: Botanical flavours glide across the palate. Warming spices and fragrant juniper give way to sweet citrus. “The palate is immediately familiar: more juniper, smudged sage, black pepper, and anise. The added abv, pitted against the standard Botanist expression, is noticeable right away: Theres definitely more heat here and more of a punch, though I wouldnt necessarily describe it as richer. Again, the citrus notes that build up on the standard expression of Botanist are what differ the most in the Distillers Strength. Here they present as sharper and more vibrant, and as the finish approaches, they actually come across as a bit sweeter, evoking notes of tangerine.”
